KOLKATA: One of the two Pratt & Whitney (PW) engines in a couple of IndiGo Airbus A321s shut down in-flight on Tuesday. Both aircraft landed safely, one in Mumbai – the intended destination – while the other returned to Kolkata, from where it had taken off. DGCA is conducting a technical evaluation of both the incidents. The two planes were grounded, joining about 40 IndiGo aircraft awaiting replacement engines from PW.
A full-emergency was declared at Kolkata airport on Tuesday afternoon when an IndiGo flight that had taken off for Bengaluru turned around after one of its engines stopped functioning mid-air.
