Vande Bharat sleeper trains: After the AC chair car Vande Bharat Express, Indian Railways is now rolling out a sleeper variant of the premium train. Apart from ICF, Chennai which is in the process of making a prototype sleeper Vande Bharat train, a project for manufacturing 200 Vande Bharat sleeper train sets is underway.
A consortium of Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and Russia’s TMH emerged the lowest bidder for making 120 Vande Bharat sleeper trains railways’ coach factory in Latur. The remaining 80 train sets will be manufactured by the second lowest bidder – a consortium of Titagarh Wagons and BHEL.
