MUMBAI: The BMC which had proposed to spend Rs 125 crore on two new methods to ensure quick and lasting pothole repair to keep its roads safe and motorable during the monsoons has decided to go back to using mastic asphalt for filling of potholes.
Already two months into the monsoon, it is now floating a new tender. Experts and angry Mumbaikars questioned the move – and BMC’s pathetic annual show when it came to pothole-filling – wondering how long it will now take for the bad roads to be repaired. Former BMC corporator Asif Zakaria said the monsoons could be over by then and motorists would continue suffering on potholed roads.
