To decongest roads around three major railway lines with manned crossings, the Public Works Department (PWD) has planned to construct railway overbridges and underbridges and limited height subways at eight railway crossings surrounding Delhi-Ambala, Delhi-Bathinda and Delhi-Bharuch lines.
These three railway lines and crossings are situated in Northwest and East Delhi constituencies, said officials.
A senior PWD official said, “Lakhs of vehicles use these crossings daily. People also risk their lives to avoid waiting time and cross railway lines, resulting in accidents. To provide signal-free crossings, the department has planned to construct over and underbridges.”
