Punjab and Haryana High Court stays discharge of 72 officers and jawans of soon-to-be disbanded Railway Engineers Regiment TA unit

The Punjab and Haryana High Court has stayed the discharge of 72 officers and jawans of a Territorial Army (TA) Railway Engineer Regiment based in Chandigarh, which is under process of disbandment.

A single judge bench passed the order on a petition filed by the personnel, including eight officers and 64 jawans. All the petitioners are railway employees who are serving as volunteers in the 1101 Railway Engineers’ Regiment (TA) based in Chandigarh.

As reported by The Indian Express earlier, the Railways intends to use the land of the TA engineer regiment for commercial purposes.
