GUWAHATI: Following the blow out at a gas producing well in OilNSE 2.01 % India Limited‘s (OIL) well in Baghjan in Upper Assam’s Tinsukia district, those affected families will be provided with Rs 30,000 as a relief.
Gas has been flowing uncontrollably since last week. Locals in the area have demanded compensation. After assurance from district administration, the locals lifted the bandh in the area.
OIL said that operational activities were affected by protests staged by local people in front of Baghjan EPS (Early Production Set-up) installation. The bandh was withdrawn after Friday’s meeting at the Deputy Commissioner’s office.
