CHENNAI: Chief minister M K Stalin on Wednesday inaugurated Tangedco’s 2,488 ring main units (RMUs) set up in 28 assembly constituencies, including Chennai and suburban areas, at a cost of Rs 360.63 crore.
The RMUs will enable automatic backfeeding of power supply in case of a power cut in a particular area as the units will be connected to two different feeders. If power supply is affected due to interruption from one feeder, the RMU will automatically switch to the secondary feeder to resume the power supply.
The 2,488 RMUs have been set up in constituencies including Sriperumpudur, Poonamallee, Tirupourur, Tambaram, Pallavaram, Tiruvottiyur, Tambaram, T Nagar, Egmore, Thiru Vi Ka Nagar, R K Nagar, Roypuram, Villivakkam, Virugambakkam, Velachery and Ambattur.
