The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) may introduce a toll on the proposed elevated road along the Eastern Express Highway (EEH).
In fact, it has sought toll collection rights at the city’s entry points, and the request has been approved in a recent Authority meeting led by Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Mumbai has five entry points that pass through toll points. MMRDA wants toll collection rights at all five points so that the revenue earned can be used for infrastructure development work in future projects. The city’s toll collection rights are currently with the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC).
