MUMBAI: Savej Liyakat Ali (24), who flew from Jeddah, was arrested on Sunday for smoking in the IndiGo flight soon after it took off from Jeddah. He is the second passenger caught in July for smoking onboard Mumbai-bound flights. Earlier on July 12, a 28-year-old flyer from Karnataka smoked in the toilet of a Bahrain-Mumbai flight.
Despite a warning being issued, Ali smoked aboard in the lavatory endangering the lives of other passengers, said Sahar police who filed a chargesheet in the case and seized his passport.
Ali is the 11th unruly passenger to have been caught in 2023. In a complaint, IndiGo flight cabin crew MD Das (30) said: “After the flight took off, the passenger went to the lavatory and smoked,”
