NEW DELHI: The Pragati Maidan transit corridor, including the main 1.4-km tunnel, is undergoing a makeover for the G20 Summit.
The tunnel was opened in June 2022 but there are obvious signs of wear and tear. “Although the tunnel is closed daily at night for routine maintenance, extra manpower has been deployed to give it the final touches. Washing, sweeping, checking for fire safety and other systems are on right now,” a senior official said.
The work has started on lanes starting from India Gate C-hexagon towards Pragati Maidan-Bharat Mandapam. One can see the contrast as on one side the artwork looks bright and shiny and on the other, it seems to be covered with dust.
