The government has increased the procurement price of ethanol produced from all sources for the 2019-20 season and also expanded it to include ethanol made from sugarcane syrup and sugar. This was done to further absorb surplus sugar. The ethanol procurement season for the oil marketing companies (OMCs) – IOCL, BPCL, and HPCL – will run from December 1, 2019, to November 30, 2020.
According to the new rules, the price of ethanol derived from C heavy molasses has been increased from Rs 43.46 a litre to Rs 43.75 per litre, and for B heavy molasses to Rs 54.27 per litre from Rs 52.43.
