Way back in 2006, the Himachal Pradesh government awarded the 960 MW hydro power project to Brakel Corporation NV. The same year, the state’s Vigilance & Anti Corruption Bureau investigated a complaint against the company and arrived at a conclusion that the company forged the documents related to their financial & technical capabilities so as to match the eligibility norms fixed in the bid. The joint venture agreement was also confirmed by their purported partners, as forged.
