Mumbai: A mid-size business charter jet, flying in from Visakhapatnam with eight people on board, crashed while attempting to land in heavy rain at Mumbai airport on Thursday. The aircraft fuselage broke into two on impact. While there were no casualties, early reports indicated that both pilots, aged 21 and 23, have sustained spinal injury—one of them has suffered paraplegia—while the passengers and the sole female crew member have sustained multiple injuries and fractures.
The passengers on board were Dhruv Kotak, MD of Mumbai-based conglomerate J M Baxi Ports & Logistics Ltd, Arul Sali, his executive assistant, K K Krishnadas, president and COO of J M Baxi, Aakarsh Shethi and Lars Sorensen, managing director of Hapag Lloyd India.
