AHMEDABAD: The Gujarat State Consumer Dispute Redressal Forum has absolved the Airports Authority of India (AAI) and held an airline liable for theft of gold jewellery from a passenger’s baggage. The forum has ordered Air Arabia to bear the compensation amount of Rs 50,000 in the 2012 case.
According to the case details, one Virendra Parekh from Vadodara had travelled from Kuwait to Ahmedabad via Sharjah in an Air Arabia flight in 2012. His two handbags were taken from him for checking at Kuwait airport and he was told that he could collect them at Ahmedabad airport.
