MUMBAI: Pothole repair work on the Mumbai-Nashik highway will be completed by October 20, the central government told the Bombay high court on Monday.
“Unless there is very heavy rainfall, we’ll try to complete it by October 20,” additional solicitor general Anil Singh told a bench of Chief Justice Dipankar Datta and Justice Girish Kulkarni.
On September 24, the HC had referred to news reports on the potholes on the highway and fatal accidents. The court told the state and central governments to resolve the pothole issue so that lives are not lost. The judges had pointed out that the Mumbai-Nashik highway is a part of the old Mumbai-Agra highway and hence the National Highway Authority, a central agency, should also look into the problem.
