KOLKATA: Bengal EV Policy, despite being ahead in 10 out of 21 parameters, is being pulled down by the other 11 categories, in which it has a long way to go.
An analysis of ‘State Electrical Vehicle Policies and their Impact’ by Climate Trends, a research-based consulting and capacity building initiative, recognises Bengal among the top-10 states for mandating charging infrastructure at new residential buildings, offices, parking lots and malls.
Going by the analysis, Bengal has scored well in defining targets for EV penetration, charging infrastructure and investments, in subsidy support for consumers, road tax and registration fees exemption, power tariff benefits, skill development, mandate for charging infrastructure and employment generation incentives.
