Vistara announces special weekly flights to Tokyo from June 16

Vistara, a joint venture airline of Tata group and Singapore Airlines, today announced a special, non-stop once a week flight between Delhi (DEL) and Tokyo (HND) starting 16 June 2021.

“The airline will fly once a week between the two capital cities under India’s travel bubble agreement with Japan. The airline will use its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft with three-class cabin configuration to serve the route,” the airline said in a statement.

Vistara, which had inducted its first Boeing 787-9 aircraft just before COVID impacted travel last year, has been adding flights to destinations in Europe. The flights currently are under the bubble arrangement agreed upon by the Indian government with 24 countries.

The airline said it has also trained its cabin crew in the Japanese language to extend the warmth of true Indian hospitality to travellers from Japan.

“Far East has been an extremely important geography for our global expansion from the beginning for its tremendous growth potential. We are delighted to add Japan to our international network, under the travel bubble and look forward to providing the best of Indian hospitality, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and hygiene for our customers on this sector,” airline CEO Leslie Thng was quoted in the release.

India has been impacted heavily by the second wave that has led to various countries, including the US and UK, restricting travel from India.
