The Centre on Tuesday appointed senior IAS officer Vikram Dev Dutt as the Chairman and Managing Director of Air India to preside over the handing over of the national carrier to Tata Sons, which has bought it.
Dutt’s appointment is part of a bureaucratic reshuffle effected by the Narendra Modi government in the top bureaucracy.
A 1993-batch IAS officer of AGMUT (Arunachal Pradesh, Goa, Mizoram and Union Territory) cadre, Dutt is presently Principal Secretary (Health) in Delhi government and was handling the Covid-19 containment measures in the national capital. He has been appointed as the Air India chief in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary.
