NEW DELHI: A 72-year-old woman who was urinated upon by an “inebriated” co-passenger on an Air India New York-Delhi flight on November 26 last year requested the Supreme Court on Monday to order DGCA and all airlines to frame ‘zero tolerance’ SOPs and rules to stringently deal with onboard unruly/disruptive behaviour.
Alleging that the AI crew faltered in handling the issue, causing immense damage to her dignity, the woman said first they served excess hard drinks to the accused co-passenger and then forced her to enter into a settlement with the perpetrator while failing to report the incident to the police. She said DGCA must consider ‘drunkenness’ as unruly or disruptive behaviour on an aircraft and the Civil Aviation Requirement (CAR) of 2017 must include this in its SOP.
