The trial run of Vande Bharat Express was conducted successfully on Monday with the eight-car train reaching a maximum speed of 110 kmph.
The train covered a distance of 489km between Bengaluru and Dharwad in six hours and fifteen minutes in the morning and around seven hours on the return journey in the evening. “The line between Dharwad and Bengaluru is fully doubled and electrified. On the 489km section, speed has been increased to 110 kmph for over 350km by undertaking several engineering works in the last two years,” South Western Railway said in a note.
General manager Sanjeev Kishore, who travelled on the train, said VB has the potential to reduce travel time by 30-45 minutes as compared to other trains on the section.
