With the objective of effective implementation of Centrally-sponsored ‘Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme’ (RDSS) for strengthening the power distribution infrastructure, the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) has decided to increase the number of power distribution zones to 40 from the present 25. An officer of a chief engineer rank will head the newly-created zones.
New zone, Lucknow Electricity Supply Administration (LESA) Cis-Gomti, has been created in the state capital. The existing power distribution zones at Gorakhpur, Agra, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Bareilly, Aligarh, Kanpur, Meerut, Moradabad, and Saharanpur have been divided and a new zone has been created in each district.
