The strike called by the Uttar Pradesh Power Department employees on Thursday 10 pm against alleged discrepancies in promotion, pension and salary was called off on Sunday afternoon, hours ahead of its 72-hour deadline. The breakthrough came after several rounds of talks between the leaders of Vidyut Karamchari Sanyukta Sangharsh Samiti and government officials, led by Minister for Energy and Urban Development AK Sharma.
Announcing the end of the strike, both sides attributed the breakthrough to “positive talks”.
