The Uttar Pradesh government has selected four private infra majors to develop two flagship expressway projects worth nearly Rs 20,000 crore.
The developers were selected after the evaluation committee opened financial bids for the 296-km Bundelkhand Expressway and the 91-km Gorakhpur Link Expressway yesterday, a day after the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and ally Apna Dal (S) won eight of the 11 seats in the state by-elections.
According to nodal agency UP Expressway Development Authority (UPEIDA) CEO Awanish Kumar Awasthi, the government stands to save Rs 1,229 crore on the civil contracts, owing to the submission of lowest bids under the competitive bidding process.
