Union power minister R K Singh inaugurated a two-storey Vishram Sadan, which would provide boarding and lodging facility for the attendants of patients at NIMHANS in Bengaluru.
The Vishram Sadan, built at a cost of around Rs 23 crore, is a two-storey facility with 270 beds distributed across 55 rooms. It is designed to provide comfort to patients’ attendants and is equipped with all necessary amenities.
Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya attended the function through virtual mode and appreciated the contribution of Powergrid CSR to support hospitals to improve patient amenities.
He lauded the contribution of NIMHANS for its high-quality patient care for people from all over the country and appreciated the diligence of the doctors and staff, particularly during Covid-19. Karnataka Minister K J George, Bengaluru South MP Tejasvi Surya and senior officials of Powergrid were also present.
Addressing the gathering, R.K. Singh appreciated the efforts of POWERGRID in establishing the Vishram Sadan, emphasizing its benefit to people from remote areas. He also spoke about the country’s robust power sector and the Government of India’s commitment to providing affordable power.
This initiative is part of POWERGRID’s ongoing efforts to contribute to societal welfare. Similar facilities by POWERGRID are already operational at AIIMS, New Delhi, IGIMS, Patna, DMCH Darbhanga, KGMU, Lucknow, and in Guwahati and Vadodara. More Vishram Sadans are in the pipeline for Ranchi and Jhansi.
