In less than two years of the commissioning of an ultra mega power project (UMPP) at Mundra in Gujarat of 4,000 MW capacity, Tata Power has sought the No Objection Certificate (NoC) from the power ministry for its expansion by two units of 800 MW each. It has said that it does not need any additional land for the expansion. Extracts of Tata’s letter has been reproduced for our readers.
