BENGALURU: Come August 1, 2023, two-wheelers, autorickshaws, tractors, all non-motorised and multi-axle hydraulic vehicles will be banned from using the main carriageway of the Bengaluru-Mysuru Expressway.
An official from the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) said: “We urge people using autos, bikes and other prohibited vehicles not to use the main carriageway. They can use the service road built along the expressway. We are going to create awareness on this by installing signboards.”
However, it could be quite a humongous task for the authorities to ensure that the prohibited vehicle types desist from using the main carriageway, given that there are 14 entry and exit points along the entire length of the expressway.
