BENGALURU: Customs officials recently ‘confiscated’ a woman techie’s used television set despite her applying for Transfer of Residence on relocating from Edinburgh, Scotland, to Bengaluru. After the woman took up with senior officials what she thought was an illegal confiscation, she was allowed to take her TV set after paying due Customs duty at Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) here.
August 1 was a happy day for the 45-year-old software professional from IBM, as she was returning to Bengaluru from Scotland after completing her two-year work stint in the European nation. She and her family landed on a British Airways flight at KIA, while her luggage, including a 48-inch used television set, hadn’t yet arrived.
