The traffic on the 270-km Jammu-Srinagar National Highway was restored at 2 pm on Friday, after remaining suspended for nearly ten hours.
DSP Traffic Ramban, Ajay Anand said that the traffic had been suspended at 4am Thursday following moderate rains that triggered landslides at Panthyal. “The traffic was resumed at 2pm today,’ he said.
Hundreds of vehicles including load carriers, trucks, LPG and oil tankers heading for Kashmir had already crossed the landslide prone area of Panthyal by Thursday evening, officials said.
