In a bid to increase the adoption of electric vehicles in the workplace, the Delhi transport department is planning to make a special reference in the Electric Vehicle Policy for government employees under which they will get subsidies and free charging facilities, among others, said officials.
According to senior government officials, as of now, there is special mention of subsidies for government employees. “At present, on purchase of electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers, the government provides subsidies for all citizens. But now, to promote the adoption of EVs on a large scale, the government is providing a five per cent extra subsidy if any employee purchases a vehicle through Delhi Finance Corporation (DFC).”
