CHENNAI: Once offshore windmills start producing power, Tamil Nadu will get round-the-clock wind power for six to seven months as against three to four months at present, Tangedco chairman and managing director Rajesh Lakhoni said here on Wednesday.
Though Tamil Nadu has slipped slightly below Gujarat in terms of installed capacity of wind power, the state still topped the charts output-wise, he said at the inauguration of the fifth edition of Windergy 2023, an international trade fair of windmill manufacturers. Tamil Nadu is the only state where round-the-clock generation is possible, he said.
He said the TN wind power model was worth emulating as 8,000 MW of the installed capacity belonged to small players who installed them for captive use.
