In a major setback to Adani’s solar power projects at Kamuthi and Ramnad, on 16.11.2016, Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission (TNERC) dismissed two separate petitions filed by the Adani group seeking Rs 7.01 per unit of tariff for its 288 MW solar projects commissioned after March 31, 2016, for which Tamil Nadu Generation and Development Company (Tangedco) is paying a tariff of Rs 5.10 per unit. They had filed the petitions on 27.09.2016 to get this difference of Rs 1.91 per unit. Over 25 years period, this would have meant a gain of Rs 2,289 crore to the group.
