Kolkata: The political diatribe between Trinamool Congress and BJP continued on Thursday with Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh taking a dig at chief minister Mamata Banerjee’s warning of stern action against corrupt party workers and TMC hitting streets to protest the fuel price hike.
A day after BJP president J P Nadda’s cut money jibe at TMC, Ghosh made light of the CM’s comment. Terming the move as an eyewash, Ghosh said: “They are now being asked to lie low for a while. Once the controversy subsides, they will be brought back to the party’s fold again. The TMC is showcasing that as a showcause to its errant members.” He also brought in a host of charges against the Trinamool, including a Rs 18-crore tarpaulin fraud over Amphan relief.
Trinamool continued with its state-wide demonstration in protest against the proposed privatization of railways, fuel price hike and foreign direct investment in coal.
TMC secretary general Partha Chatterjee said, “The incessant fuel price hike has imposed a huge burden at the time of economic hardship affecting the common people amid the Covid19 pandemic.”
