MUMBAI: The MSEDCl has launched a major drive against power thefts in the Mumbai metropolitan region. The Bhandup division in the past three days detected power thefts of 1.69 lakh units causing loss of about Rs 14.5 lakh.
The electricity thefts were detected by a team under supervision of chief engineer Suresh Ganeshkar at Thane (37000 units), Vashi (48000 units) and Pen (around 84000 units).
“The culprits have been asked to pay the money with a penalty else face criminal action,” an official added.
