HYDERABAD: Upset with frequent power cuts and inflated bills, villagers of Muslapur in Alladurgam mandal of Medak district tied two electricity employees to a pillar on Saturday when they came to to the village for bill collection.
The villagers who tied them up with a rope refused to set them free until higher officials came to the village to listen to their problems and solve them. It was only when police intervened that the two employees were set free by the angry villagers.
Senior electricity officials asked police to file cases against the villagers. The officials also alleged that the two employees were beaten up by the villagers. The grouse of the villagers was that they were unable to operate their agricultural motors because of frequent power disruptions.
