In the next eight months, Telangana’s renewable energy initiative is likely get a shot in the arm with the State planning to augment its solar capacity by 1,000 MW.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the fourth edition of Renew X, a two-day renewable energy trade expo, which would begin on April 26 at HITEX, the Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation (TSREDCO) Vice-Chairman and Managing Director N. Janaiah said the augmentation would enhance the existing capacity to about 4,500 MW.
Mr. Janaiah pointed out that Telangana was the leading State in the country in solar installation capacity and was second only to Karnataka. The difference between the two States, he said, was about 500 MW.
