MUMBAI: Tata Power on Wednesday announced setting up electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure across Maharashtra, with a focus on highways and expressway linking Mumbai to Pune, Nashik, Goa and other places.
The power firm has planned installation of at least 1,500 stations, with up to 80% of them on major highways and expressways, a senior official said. This is apart from the state power utility firm MSEDCL expediting installation of 2,375 charging stations across the state.
“The charging stations for Tata Power will come up at petrol pumps and at food courts/malls en route when you travel from one city to another, so that you can charge easily and get more range for your e-car or e-SUV. It will remove the range (km run per charge) anxiety among EV users as they fear that a vehicle may run out of charge after some distance,” the official said. The long routes include Mumbai-Pune e-way, Mumbai-Goa and Mumbai-Nashik highways and on roads to Mahabaleshwar and Shirdi, he said.
