Sales of electric cars in the local market is expected to moderate, on a high base, in the upcoming calendar year, Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director at homegrown auto major Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles told ET.
Chandra said while new model interventions scheduled next year will help expand volumes, the base will be high. “So on this high base, 30-40% growth should be good”, Chandra informed, adding, this decline in growth rate in sales of electric passenger vehicles should not be construed as “slowdown”. Electric vehicle sales in the local market are expected to grow by 90-95% to close shy of 100,000 units mark in the ongoing calendar year.
