On April 11, 2017, the Supreme Court set aside Appellate Tribunal for Electricity (APTEL) and Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC)’s orders that permitted Tata Power and Adani Power to raise electricity tariffs in tandem with increased input costs, from 2011 onwards, when the price of the imported coal from Indonesia had jumped substantially.
