CHENNAI: After a gap of five years, Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation (Tangedco) has again given its approval to consumers to buy meters from private players. The decision of the power utility is aimed at addressing the shortage of meter.
Until 2019, Tangedco consumers could purchase meters from private parties. Subsequently, the power utility started installing meters on its own due to administraive reasons.
