CHENNAI: Following objections from fishermen at the National Green Tribunal (NGT), the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made changes to the East Coast Road (ECR) expansion project near Koovathur.
The new design not only reduces environmental impact but ensures motorists can travel at 100kmph.
K Saravanan, a member of the local fishing community, complained that the NHAI placed yellow-coloured marker stones inside Odaiyur lake, an eco-sensitive zone where construction work or developmental activities are not permitted.
