CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu will hit nearly 1.5 million units in electric vehicle sales by 2030, says the estimates from a just-launched EV ready India dashboard.
Launched by OMI Foundation, along with Union power minister RK Singh and representatives of the Centre, the state government, Niti Aayog, World Bank and others, the dashboard (evreadyindia.org) estimates that Tamil Nadu will see over 47.35% compounded annual growth rate (CAGR) between calendar year (CY) 2022 and CY 2030 to reach 14.88 lakh EV sales.
“Tamil Nadu is emerging as a manufacturing hub for high-speed electric two-wheelers and the annual battery demand in the state is expected to reach 5 GWh (giga-watthour), while the number of public charging stations in the state are 450,” said a statement.
