KURNOOL: There is surplus power generation at Srisailam Right Bank Hydro Electric Station (AP side) with floodwater being available for more than three months. An engineer said hydropower generation can continue for the next six months at this rate easing a burden on the government. The power utility produced 984.944 million units during 2020-21 by churning out 172 tmc of water as of Wednesday. While the installed capacity is 770 MW, the utility is operating beyond its capacity.
With excellent performance in maintenance of technical equipment and water utility at the hydro electric station in Andhra Pradesh, 787.00 million units (MU) of power was generated as against the 580.00 MU for the month of October. The annual target of 850 MU for 2020-21 will also, in all probability double, if the present situation holds good for the future, officials said.
