The experimental project to construct a road from single-use plastic by Indian Oil Corporation’s (IOC) research and development centre has ‘failed’, as a section of the road has worn out in just three months.
Paved with bituminous and different concentrations of single-use plastic waste, the 850-metre-long road in Sector 13 here was inaugurated by IOC Chairman Sanjiv Singh on October 2. It was the first time that single-use plastic was used as one of the ingredients in the construction of a road in the state. The cost of the project had not been disclosed.
