NEW DELHI: A SpiceJet Boeing 737 freighter (that carries only cargo) scheduled to fly from Kolkata to Chongqing in China, returned to Kolkata on Tuesday due to unserviceable weather radar.
This was the third SpiceJet flight which faced a snag yesterday, after two planes faced emergencies midair. While the flight from Delhi to Dubai had a suspected fuel leak and landed safely in Karachi, the other flight from Kandla to Mumbai suffered a crack on the outer windshield of the plane when the turboprop was cruising at 23,000ft.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has summoned the cash-strapped airline’s management to seek an explanation over the string of incidents.
