MUMBAI: The outer pane of the cockpit windshield of a SpiceJet Bombardier Q400 aircraft cracked mid-air forcing the pilots to carry out a priority landing in Mumbai on Tuesday. This was the second incident involving a SpiceJet aircraft in a day.
SpiceJet flight SG3324 operating from Kandla to Mumbai was at 23,000 feet when the incident occurred, said an official from the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
The right hand side outer pane of the cockpit window on aircraft VT-SUV cracked. It did not lead to pressurization problems, the spokesperson said, adding that the aircraft landed safely in Mumbai.
Earlier in the day, a SpiceJet Boeing 737 aircraft operating flight SG-011 from DElhi to Dubai was diverted to Karachi after the cockpit crew suspected a fuel leak from one of the wing fuel tanks.
