BENGALURU: Work on restoring the 108-year-old Nandi Halt station as a heritage railway station was started on Friday by the Bengaluru division of South Western Railway (SWR).
The station, located about 20km from the tourist destination of Nandi Hills, is functional to this date as all Kolar-bound trains make a stop there. The restoration work is part of an initiative by the division to restore and preserve station buildings to enhance their heritage value. The work is expected to be completed in a year.
An MoU was signed with INTACH in February 2021 for the development of Doddajala, Devanahalli, Avatihalli, and Nandi Halt railway stations as heritage ones.
