NEW DELHI: Power distribution companies in Tamil Nadu, Rajasthan, Odisha and Andhra Pradesh, which have accumulated large dues payable to power plants, are likely to require exemptions from the Centre to avail the 10-year concessional loans under the Rs 90,000 crore infusion scheme.
However, utilities of most other states including Uttar Pradesh, Telengana, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir will be able to draw funds with their existing working capital limits or state receivables, sources said.
The outstanding dues of Rajasthan distribution companies are the highest at Rs 31,682 crore followed by Tamil Nadu at Rs 13,485 crore, data available for February on the power ministry’s Praapti portal showed.
