MUMBAI: The solarisation of agriculture feeders across Maharashtra will see a 14-fold rise in the next two years. While farmers were provided with 500MW solar power for daytime electricity needs during the past five years, the state energy department announced on Wednesday that it will now float two tenders — one in September and another in December — to escalate solar energy supply for farming by another 7,000MW in just two years.
Principal secretary (energy) Abha Shukla said that a roadmap has already been prepared to expedite the projects. “We have identified 14 packages in the first phase to provide solar power where agriculture load is highest.
