BENGALURU: About 5-7 Gigawatts of new downstream solar manufacturing capacity is expected to be set up over the next three years in India, according to renewable energy consultancy firm Bridge To India (BTI).
It will increase the current annual solar manufacturing capacity, which stands at around 10GW. It will also reduce India’s dependence on China for solar equipment. Currently, around 90% of India’s solar module needs are met by imports, around 85% of these from a single country – China.
