NEW DELHI: Slow moving vehicles such as motorcycles, scooters, three-wheelers and tractors are not allowed to ply on the newly-opened stretch of the Delhi-Mumbai expressway, the NHAI has said in a notification citing safety reasons.
Though the rules specify that such vehicles are not allowed on any expressway and access-controlled highway stretches, this notification is a legal formality for the highway authority.
Officials said similar notifications have been issued for Delhi-Meerut and Eastern Peripheral expressways as well and also admitted that stopping the entry of such vehicles has been a big challenge for them until there is strict enforcement of the rule by the local police.
